Former Soo Thunder Dorval Heads to U17 Hockey Canada Development Camp

HockeyCanada LogoHearst, Ontario native Zack Dorval who played under Sal Lamantea during the 2013 – 2014 hockey season with the Soo Thunder minor midgets is in Calgary, Alberta from July 28th to August 4th along with 107 other 1998-born hockey players in a nine-day national under-17 development camp.

The 16 year old forward was drafted by the Kingston Frontenacs in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Draft. Dorval committed to the Frontenacs with signing a standard player agreement on June 17th. The 5'11" and 167 lbs forward was drafted in the second round and 35th overall in the spring of 2014.

Run, Climb and Crawl for Childhood Cancer Research

The-Muddy-Moose-ChargeOn Saturday, September 13th, 2014 the inaugural Canadian Cancer Society Muddy Moose Charge event will take place at Searchmont Resort. Muddy Moose Charge participants will run, climb and crawl on this fun 5km mud run with obstacles. A ‘Muddy Calf Charge’ course for kids will also be offered.

Don't miss the first Muddy Moose Charge at Searchmont Resort. Challenge yourself and run a 5km mud run complete with challenging obstacles and raise money for childhood cancer research. Register a team of five ($60 per person) with a minimum fundraising goal of $500 in pledges ($100 per team member). 

NOJHL Thunderbirds Add Matt Caruso to 2014/15 Roster

BirdsThe Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Soo Thunderbirds have added some youth to their 2014 – 2015 roster with forward Matt Caruso. The 17 year old played in southern Ontario this past winter with the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Waterloo Siskins. The Sault Ste Marie, Ontario native chose to move to Waterloo to play for the Siskins due to the fact that Sault Ste Marie did not have a AAA midget program to offer during the 2013 – 2014 hockey season.

The 5'8" and 145 lbs forward in play 32 regular season games, the Sault Ste Marie native found the net for a total of 18 times and adding another 28 assists during the 2013 – 2014 season.

Anthony Salinitri Commits to 2014 - 2015 Soo Greyhound Roster

2013-14 SOO GREYHOUNDS LOGOThe Soo Greyhounds Hockey Program is pleased to announce on July 28th the commitment from 2014 1st Round draft pick Anthony Salinitri.

The Windsor, Ontario product was the 17th overall selection in this past April's OHL Priority Selection.

"We are excited to welcome the Salinitri family to the Program, and look forward to working with Anthony as he continues to pursue his goals in the classroom and on the ice" stated Hounds' Head Coach Sheldon Keefe.
