Anthony Salinitri Commits to 2014 - 2015 Soo Greyhound Roster

2013-14 SOO GREYHOUNDS LOGOThe Soo Greyhounds Hockey Program is pleased to announce on July 28th the commitment from 2014 1st Round draft pick Anthony Salinitri.

The Windsor, Ontario product was the 17th overall selection in this past April's OHL Priority Selection.

"We are excited to welcome the Salinitri family to the Program, and look forward to working with Anthony as he continues to pursue his goals in the classroom and on the ice" stated Hounds' Head Coach Sheldon Keefe.

SMHL Helmet6 teams were looking to become champions and raise their division trophies on July 27th in the Sault Amateur Football Association Tim-Bit, Tyke and Wacky Wing division final championship games at Rocky DiPietro Field.

After five regular season Sault Amateur Football Association games, the first place Little Caesar's Steelers hit the field on Sunday July 27th at Rocky DiPietro Field in the Tim Bit Championship game at 4:00 p.m against the second place Tim Horton's Ti-Cats.

Sabercats Lose OVFL Quarter-Final to Field Goal in Mississauaga

sabercatsThe Sault Sabercats hit the road for their quarter-final Ontario Varsity Football League game on Saturday July 26th at 7:00 p.m in Mississauga, Ontario. The Sabercats entered the 2014 OVFL playoffs with a 5 – 3 record while the Mississauga Warriors hit the field with a 5 – 3 record also.

The Sabercats opened the game with a 1 – 0 score on the opening kick-off with a Sabercat touchback. At 9:28 of the first quarter, the Warriors took a 7 – 1 lead with their first touchdown of the quarter-final. At 5:31 of the first quarter, David Toppan gave the Sault a 8 – 7 lead. With time ticking down in the first quarter, Mississauga jumped out to a 14 – 8 lead with 45 seconds left.

Steeler HelmetThe Sault Steelers were in Toronto, Ontario to face the Toronto Raiders in their final regular season game on July 26th at 7:00 p.m. The first place West division Steelers were looking to improve on their 6 – 1 record while the Raiders had a 3 - 4 going into the last game of the Northern Football Conference regular season.

Josh Gauthier opened the scoring for the Steelers with a 3 yard run to give the Sault an 7 – 0 lead. On the Raiders one yard line, Gauthier ran the ball one yard into Toronto's end zone to bring the game to 14 – 0 for the Steelers. With a 20 yard run, the NFC West division leaders increased their lead to 21 – 0 with Gauthier's third touchdown of the game heading into halftime.
