Following the first meeting of its new executive committee, the Sault Major Hockey Association reduced the number of teams in Midget AA from four to three. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but as a group, the committee felt it was important to improve the calibre of our AA division, which will help develop our skaters to play at higher levels,” said Adam Caughill, President of Sault Major Hockey. Sault Major Hockey’s AA and BB divisions will consist of the following league formats, and team coaches, for the 2011-12 season: Midget AA Northside Toyota (Travis Ruicci) Root River Rangers (Richard Barsanti) Cambrian Nissan Titans (Claudio Sacco) Bantam AA Sault Blackhawks (Vince Deluca) Source for Sports (Kevin Panco) New York Fries (Colin Kirkwood) Midget BB Soo Sabres (Mike Miket) Cutting Edge (Don Thorburn) Stitch King (David Laity) Joey Calzones (Tony Boniferro) Soo Panthers (Matthew Andrews) Bantam BB Dionisi Stars (Terry Miskimin) Meyer’s Munchies/Stitch King (Richard Alexander) Lock City Bulls (Robert Fremlin) Mrs. B’s Pizza (Chris Soltys) Servicemaster Flyers (Mike Sarlo) The format of Sault Major’s Midget and Bantam C divisions will be announced once registration numbers are finalized. As well, for the 2011-12 season, SMHA will continue to offer bodychecking in all of its divisions.
