With the loss of quarterbacks Mike Tassone to injury and Frank Weise to work commitments, coach Lewis elected to select first year slotback Robbie Green who is in  his first year of playing football after a stellar basketball career to take a chance at the top position with the Steelers.

Green’s first stab at quarterback was in a lopsided loss to the number one NFC league leading Toronto Titans last weekend 50 – 14.

The Steelers traveled down Highway 17 to meet their Northern Ontario rivals Saturday evening to meet the 0 – 7 Sudbury Spartans in the Sault’s final regular season contest.

Green put up decent numbers in his second outing and closed out the Steelers regular season with a 14 – 12 win over the Sudbury Spartans at Queen's Athletic Field in Sudbury.

Next up for the Steelers will be the Sarnia Imperials in Sarnia on August 4th.  The Steelers finished a rebuilding season a 3 - 5 record, while the Imperials finished the NFC regular season 4 - 4.  The last time the Steelers met the Imperials, the Steelers took home the win 20 - 7.
