For the second consecutive weekend the Sault Civics Surge U14 girls soccer team combined a Saturday tie with a Sunday loss to earn a single point in WOYSL league play. On Saturday night in London, Ontario, the Civics Surge rode a first half goal from mid-fielder Meagan DeMeo to a 1-1 tie with London Portuguese AC Dragons. In Sunday's match against the same London squad, the Surge were unable the penetrate offensively and fell 1-0 after a scoreless first half. Surge Head Coach Jeff Conley didn't hold back his disappointment with the weekend, citing a "lacklustre performance" from his team. "We came out flat and got beat by a less-talented team. There's no way we should be dropping points to that team this late in the season." Conley was quick to look at the positive side. "We've got a weekend off before our final WOYSL series and the girls have two weeks to prepare for a strong finish. We know we can play with any team in this league and beating Kitchener will be a good way to finish the season." Next action for the Civics Surge is an August 18th -19th series in the Sault against Kitchener Spirit. The U14 Civics Surge were the recent benefactors of a weekend series forfeiture by Cambridge United.  The Surge picked up six points from Cambridge's no-show in the Sault two weeks ago and now sit with a 4-2-6 record in WOYSL league play.   U14 Civics defender Megan Sizer prepares to tackle London striker Josee Kelly in WOYSL action Sunday. Â
