Thunderbirds Win Top Awards in NOJHL

The Soo Thunderbirds are happy to announce many of their players and staff have been honoured by the NOJHL for the 2009-2010 season.

Topping the list is Bronson Kovacs. Bronson is the recipient of the RBC Scholastic Player of the year for the NOJHL. He will be awarded a $1000 scholarship as well as a chance to win the RBC national award of $5000. Bronson was also named NOJHL defenseman of the year and member of the 2nd All Star team.

Jerry Petingalo was named best team player for his constant unselfish play to help his team.

Drew Otto and Tyler Evoy were named to the 2nd All Star team.

GM Al Jones was named as NOJHL Director of the Year. The tireless Jones has been the backbone of the TBirds for the last 7 seasons. "Jonesy" is loved and respected by his players, staff and fellow associates.

The Thunderbirds open their home playoff schedule, Monday, March 8, 7:30 at the Essar Centre when they face the Manitoulin Islanders.
